Thanks for booking!

Please note our policy requires 24 hours notice to cancel or change an appointment.

For missed appointments or cancellations made within 24 hours from January 1-September 30, we will be charging the FULL FEE if we are unable to fill the spot. For missed appointments or cancellations made within 48 hours from October 1-December 31, we will be charging the FULL FEE if we are unable to fill the spot.

We also bill a 50% compassion fee for missed appointments due to illness, emergency and any situation that results in a cancelation within the 48hrs that is due to unforeseen. We deeply care about our patients, but the volume of illness related cancelations we receive makes it impossible to keep our practitioners schedules full. We know you respect what we do, and we value you, so charging this fee shows respect to both parties. Again, there will be no fee if you have a friend of family member that would love to take your place.

Often times we are unable to fill last minute cancellations. After a devastating few years of navigating the financial hardships of the pandemic, we are asking that our communities support out practitioners by valuing their livelihoods.

A friendly reminder that masks are still required for patients and practitioners at Origin Wellness.

Thank you for keeping us all safe and supporting our small business.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapists assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints of the body, mostly by hands-on manipulation.

Assessment and treatment can include orthopaedic and neurological testing, soft tissue manipulation (Swedish massage is the most commonly used technique), hydrotherapy, remedial exercise programs and client education programs.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct approach to medical care that emphasizes the inherent ability of the body to heal itself. Using gentle, safe, and effective therapies, naturopathic doctors address the whole person rather than just the presenting symptoms to restore health and help prevent disease.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (the spine and extremities, arm and legs) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.

Thai Massage

Wear your stretchy, comfy clothes! The therapist is very active throughout (and barefoot), and uses their whole body to stabilize, support, and move the patient, and can press, lean, or even crawl or walk on the patient! It can be relaxing or stimulating, and can be remarkably meditative and nurturing. (This is performed by an RMT and therefore an insurance receipt can be provided).

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a client-centred discipline that is based on understanding the relationship between structure and function in order to enhance the body’s inherent ability to heal. It relies on skilled manual therapeutic techniques to assess and treat the client, guiding the natural self-healing properties of the human body.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very gentle technique that has been proven to assist with lymph flow and drainage of various tissues and lymph pathways in the body. The main goal is to encourage better lymph flow and clearance in order to prevent stagnation and support immune response via the lymphatic system.

No oil is used in this type of massage and the pressure is very light (Note: this is different from Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage, which is a different style of treatment). The skin is alternatingly stretched and released, creating a pump-like effect that encourages lymph flow and clearance.

The rhythmic nature of movements also encourages relaxation through a calming effect on the nervous system and can have a generally pain-reducing effect.

MLD is often used for various types of swelling including lymphedema, a condition of lymphatic dysfunction for which CDT (combined decongestive therapy) - a combination of MLD and bandaging - is the golden standard. MLD is often used for many types of post-surgical swelling (top surgery, mastectomies, plastic surgeries, hip and knee replacements, and more) as well as swelling from acute injuries such as sprains and strains.

It can be helpful for a variety of conditions including anxiety, bloating, acne, long COVID, osteoarthritis, whiplash, concussion syndromes, stress migraines, contusions/bruising and more. A pre-screening is required prior to your first MLD session to assess for any contraindications to this treatment.

Emily has been passionate about her career as a massage therapist since 2014. While she has had a life long tendency towards movement based activities, her massage therapy practice has transformed her experience and understanding of the human body in ways she cannot wait to share. While she understands the importance of managing painful symptoms to optimize relaxation and recovery states, her approach emphasizes injury prevention and creating sustainable wellness by rooting through underlying biomechanical causes and providing clients with empowering self-care tools.

Emily uses a variety of Swedish massage and myofascial release techniques catered to each client’s unique needs. While her clients have often reflected upon the strength of her hands, her experience as a massage therapist and life long student has taught her to prioritize clear communication while setting collaborative goals and boundaries. She takes pride in maintaining a direct strategy and optimizing long term efficacy by increasing client understanding of cause and effect within their bodies, while tailoring to the differing individual needs/preferences of our wonderfully diverse client population. She has had positive results in various experiences treating clients with MS, diabetic neuropathies, fibromyalgia, addressing restrictions caused by surgical scar tissue (particularly pertaining to orthopedic reconstructions and survivors of breast cancer), working with professional athletes, pregnant people, children, and many other specialized treatment needs.

In recent years, Emily has become an avid yoga student and teacher in training. What started as an adjunctive therapy in her own self care routine has become a whole new vocabulary with which to hold space and provide supportive wellness based care.

Emily is enthusiastic about meeting and interacting with clients from every walk of life and is happy to be providing a service that has such an incredible impact.
